Jordan: The preconference time.

Body

Wake up! It's 7 am. Damn, I slept at 5
I've spent the whole night packing my things and working on the presentations.
Everything is OK until now, I'm sitting in the smoking area writing this using my pocket PC "Actually I'm not in the hotel going throgh it!"

PS. If you are postponed from the military service Give him a copy of the travelling license you get if it has "multiple times". Keep the original to avoid redoing it.
boring nothing to do. I still have an hour. Walked for a while, Phoned Sherif Nagi then he phoned me.
Let's smoke again.
25 mins. left, To the gate. The previous bus left and I was the 1st one in thenew bus.
Ahh, The air hostesses are fine although not that pretty, But they are smiling ;)
Dressed in slightly dark orange. And a skirt covering the knee.
SHIT. A SAUDI GUY BESIDE ME.
He was the latest one to come.
10:40 They woke me up to check the seatbelt.I was sitting by the patthway near the small airbus emergency exit.
Taking off now. It's 10:50
They woke me up again to eat!
Everything is spinning. We were three, The saudi guy was the last to be served.
She told him: I don't know, u'll see for yourself when he asked about the sandwich.
The food was a sandwich, a small cake, orange juice and some water.
When he was getting his tea and asked for some sugar, she told him that it's in the sealed pack he had with the food.
GAH! I 've just missed the coffee.
I asked the a man there for coffee because I missed them.
Got my coffee
Found an article about jordan planet in the magazine.
To the lavatory. Damn, anyone spending more than a minute there should be REALLY killed.
They are landing. i'll stay despite what the hostess wants. It's only 1 min, said I
Now back to my seat.
Everything OK, In the airport I found a place to get the visas, I asked: Do they accept dollars ? They tod me no. What's your passport ? Egyptian ? You don't need a visa "Are you ure, Said I" and I was about to be kicked!
Went out, Someone is waiting for me, A taxi driver named Adnan "I didn't give him tips as I didn't change money yet"
We talked about jordan, Let me try to summarize what he said:
* To be employed by the government is better than the private sector because you get a good salary when you retire.
* The original people from Jordan prefer the army and the government to the private.
* The Palestinians work for the private sector.
* Amman is expensive "something I know"
* Amman is devided into 2 parts, The old "east, cheap" and the new "west, very expensive". If you rent a flat for 70JD in the east, You can pay 250 for the same flat in the west.
* Sometimes the difference in prices might be 10x
* For food and such things, Its almost the same but it differs for things as clothes.
* The water is being cut in the west for 4 days, "see why the difference in prices ?"
* During the last few years the prices were doubled, People employed by the government got an increae, But people working in the private sector didn't
* You need to get between 1,000 and 1,500 JD per month to be OK in the west.
* After the war on Iraq things became orse due to rich people coming to jordan.
* Many of them pay double for things without caring, This indeed affected many things.
* to rent a shop near the center of the city, You'll pay around 20,000 JD then you can start talking about the monthly rent price.
* The guy got a 2 years job with a basic salary equal to what he's getting now including the tips he's getting but he didn't agree because what'll happen to him after 2 years ?

Anyway, The above things were from a driver's point of view so I still need to talk to a few people to confirm this.

The hotel is good, The room is fine. I had problems with the network until I've discovered that the network cable is unplugged in the strange device they are using!!!

OK, I'm hungry and lonely.
It's now 4:20.
